So You Want To Buy Your First Home

If reading that title fills you with nervous energy, you are not alone. Buying your first home is a right of passage for many, but can feel daunting from the outside looking in.  But because the universe has your back and you found your way to my little blog, you are in luck. I work with lots of first time home buyers and have compiled a real life list of my Frequently Asked Questions just for you.

Where do I start?

I am so glad you asked ;)

Unless you are paying cash for the home, your very first step will be to meet with a lender that can help you get pre-approved for a mortgage.  Don’t know any local reliable lenders? Have no fear! I work with the very best lenders in town that offer all different types of loans to give you a multitude of financing options.

Why should I work with a Realtor?

In the technology-driven world we live in, it is rather easy to find a home online and set up a showing with a listing agent of a home.  However, hiring a seasoned agent has countless benefits. Some of which are:

—Our services do not cost you anything (seller pays commission)

—We have direct access to the Multiple Listing Service, which allows us to send you the most up to date and accurate information on current listings

—We are full of market knowledge and our job is to break down the statistics to real data that we can utilize when looking for, and negotiating your future home

Above all else, having an agent who is 100% committed to getting you the lowest price and the best terms will prove to be the best investment you make.

Why should I buy with Mack?

There are a few common themes you will find when talking to my clientele.  I am, by nature, a listener. I intensely listen to what my clients needs, wants, desires, and hopes are and use what I learned to find them the home that suits all of the above.  I then fiercely negotiate to get them the best terms possible, and consistently go above and beyond to serve my clients with the utmost attention to detail. Buying a home is more than just the most expensive purchase most people will ever make— it is one of the most significant.  I understand that this is where you and your family will “do life”, and I will treat it as such.

Alright, I’m ready to start looking.  What do I do?

Congratulations!  Lets do this.

Let me know via email or phone.  We will set up a time to meet— coffee’s on me.  During this initial meeting, you will let me know everything you want in a home, like a huge kitchen island for entertaining, or a master closet worthy of Real Housewives fame.  I will then explain the entire buying timeline to you. We will go over everything from private showings, to a home inspection, to the closing table. Bring your questions.

I don’t know any escrow, insurance, home inspector people.  Who should I talk to?

Good news!  My people are the best people.  I have a thorough list of trusted vendors that I have worked with countless times.  I would love to make my contacts your contacts!
