The Ritz Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara

I’m just going to come right out and say it— The Ritz Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara is my favorite place ever.  I have stayed there a (large) handful of times, and even at the risk of everyone booking it and driving up the rates, I am going to share why you should run, not walk, to book a long weekend here.

  1. You never have to leave the Resort.  Sprawled over 78 waterfront acres, there is literally no reason for you to get in your car from the day you check in to the sad day you have to leave.  There are multiple restaurants, shops, pools, walking trails, spa, etc that make it quite possible for you to forget you even drove there in the first place.

  2.  The accommodations are top-notch.  The rooms are spread out in a villa-like setting that allows for privacy and a true “get-a-way” experience.  Gone are the days of feeling like sardines with a 15-minute walk down a long hallway to a room the size of your closet at home.  Whoever designed these villas should get a raise because every villa I have stayed at has offered a different feel yet still has that “tucked away” feeling.  Travel tip: Although they can’t always guarantee a villa number, Villa 6 is my fav.

  3. You can bring your dog.  Cash my mini australian shepherd is on a first-name basis with most of the staff after the first day of my stay.  All the restaurants are dog-friendly and there are so many trails, walkways, and beach that by noon Cash is knocked out ready for a nap.  They even bring a dog bed, bowls, clean-up bags, and treats to your room upon arrival. Can you say SOLD?!

  4. The spa is next level.  3 stories of absolute bliss.  Best spa hands down I have ever been to!   Unwind in the hot tub, eucalyptus steam room, and sauna on the first floor.  Grab some tea and sit on a plush couch in front of a fireplace as you wait for your treatment on the second floor.  Relax and sunbathe on the top level which features open-air ceilings and day beds that you will never want to leave.  Oh and did I mention there is a separate adult-only spa pool that has relaxing music playing and a full-menu cocktail and food service?

  5. The service is Ritz-Carlton Award Winning.  All the staff are extremely accommodating and are truly there to help make your experience the best it can possibly be.

In summary, this is the perfect getaway for anyone who needs to unplug from life and melt into the unhurried pace of the Ritz Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara.  Maybe I’ll see you there? ;)
