Alex

On a blistering hot Saturday morning in August, Alex and I walked through the doors of a bright and airy 1940s home in the heart of Old Fig Garden. It was chalked full of character— from the multiple porches off of every wing of the home to the lush landscaping, this home was truly special. We walked into the backyard and found a 50+ foot long pool and quaint guest house and Alex looked at me and said “I love it.” This was the first day that we went out looking at homes, and both Alex and I were shocked by how perfect this house was. Certain houses just have an unexplainable feeling of home about them, and this was one of them.

A lesson in patience, we wrote an offer and waited for a response from the seller. Uniquely in this case, it took us a few weeks of back and forth with the seller to negotiate a contract. During this waiting period, Alex unfortunately got into an accident and was going to be wheelchair bound for a little while. Now more than ever, we prayed that we could get into contract on this house and give her some much needed good news. At long last, I received the phone call that we got the house and were officially in escrow!

Away we went into a fury of inspections and disclosures. We ran into several road bumps along the way in escrow (all outside of our control) but Alex remained cool, calm, and collected from start to finish. She gracefully navigated all the issues thrown our way and kept the end-goal of moving into her dream house in mind. I was amazed by her positivity, and this whole process has made me admire her and her spirit even more than I did before!

30 days later, I was finally handing keys to Alex to her new home. As fate would have it, she will be walking again on her own just a week after closing. On closing day, we walked (and wheeled!) around Alex’s new house dreaming up how she was going to make it her own.

I am always so honored when a friend entrusts me to to help them find the perfect home. There is something especially exciting about being able to help a friend find the home they will do life in.

Cheers to you Alex. Who knew that new beginnings could feel this good?!
